Statement On The Use of Digital Radiography (Digital X-Rays)

The dental office is equipped with computerized digital x-rays.  I am proud to offer you the latest in technology and want to share the following information for your benefit:

Digital x-rays offer the following advantages over traditional film-based x-rays:

1.      Lowest use of radiation

The x-ray power needed is only one-tenth that of regular film.  One can have a full-mouth set of x-rays taken with digital and have been exposed to only a minimal amount of radiation.

2.      Instantaneous viewing

Instead of waiting minutes for films to develop, the digital x-ray displays the image virtually instantly on a computer monitor for immediate review.

3.      Better diagnostics

Enhancement of the digital image on the computer monitor through magnification, three-dimensional embossing and colorization affords better detection of pathology.

4.      Sharing of images

Digital images are stored in standard computer formats and are easily shared with insurance companies and specialists.  They can be e-mailed or printed at any time.

5.      Better for the environment

Traditional film-based x-rays dispose harmful processing chemicals and lead into our sewer and garbage, polluting our environment.  Digital is environmentally friendly.
